What is a LinkedIn URN?

A LinkedIn URN is LinkedIn’s own id for a post, a comment, a person or a company, written like urn:li:activity:7514393874887270401.

The kinds you meet most: urn:li:activity: is a post as it appears in a feed; urn:li:ugcPost: and urn:li:share: are the post’s content; urn:li:comment:(ugcPost:…,…) is a comment on it.

A post’s link carries one: /feed/update/urn:li:activity:…/, or -activity- and the number in a /posts/ link. A repost has its own activity, and its share URN points to the original post.

The number in an activity, ugcPost or share URN holds the moment the post was made: shift it right by 22 bits for milliseconds since 1970.
