Acceptable use
What this API may and may not be used for. Short, and we enforce it.

The short version
Use this to build products, research markets, find customers and understand what is happening in public. Do not use it to target, harass or endanger individual people.
Not allowed
- Targeting an individual. Surveillance of a specific person, building a dossier, stalking, or anything whose point is to follow one human being around.
- Harassment. Assembling contact details in order to contact people who have asked not to be contacted, or to enable anyone else to.
- Discrimination. Using this data to make or inform decisions about employment, credit, housing or insurance for an individual — these are regulated decisions and this is not regulated data.
- Sensitive inference. Deriving or targeting on health, sexuality, religion, political opinion, trade union membership or immigration status.
- Re-selling the raw feed. Build a product on it; do not resell our responses as a data feed. Talk to us if that is your business — there may be a deal.
- Credential anything. Do not send us a platform login, cookie or session. We will not accept it, and asking is itself a breach.
- Anything illegal where you are, or where the person is.
How we enforce it
We watch for volume patterns that look like individual targeting rather than market research, and we will email you before we do anything. A key that is breaking this policy gets suspended; unused credits are refunded. We would rather have a conversation than a confrontation, and we have no interest in policing ordinary commercial work.
